Melissa Dickson Jackson lives in Newnan, GA, with her husband Dean, four children, and two cats. She paints, writes, teaches, and takes long naps on hammocks.
A military dependent, Melissa grew up jumping station to station until her parents retired in Ozark, AL, where her focus on painting (producing and collecting) began to emerge as a life-long quest.
She especially enjoys memorial commissions produced from vintage photos, and poetic contemporary figurative painting. Her portrait work is currently available for $2 a square inch (2022 rate) plus shipping.
She holds an MFA in studio arts from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and a BFA in painting from Auburn University.
Melissa also publishes her writing as a poet and feature writer. She received an MFA in Professional and Creative Writing from Converse College. She teaches writing, critical thinking, media awareness, and literature at the University of West Georgia.
